![]() The Boutique is a charmer - like George Clooney. Clooney, who stars in the ad, walks into a Nespresso bar. He hears a couple ladies talking about something that's unique, mysterious, rich, and gets embarrassed. After a while, he goes up to them and asks "You're talking about Nespresso, right?" The only trickery Michel used in the ad was a cheeky sense of humor, which mostly came from Clooney. You can see a Flash copy of the ad on Nespresso's site. A Quicktime copy is here. The ad was shot on January 30th and 31st, 2006 in a Nespresso boutique entirely reconstructed for the occasion in Santa Monica, California. Incidentally, the Oscar nominations were announced on the 30th, and we've been told that everyone was excited to work with George on such a joyous occasion for him. George and Michel were also happy to finally work together, as that was something they had both wanted to do. Gossip alert! We've been told George is in fact a down-to-Earth fellow, so there you go. Finally, during the first day of filming, the girls were so hyped up on caffeine that they had to wrap early. The ad began airing on French television and in French theatres in mid-April 2006. ![]() Smooth, rich, flavorful. Er, I mean George Clooney, Michel, and Jean-Louis Bompoint. The Boutique's d.p. was frequent Michel cohort Jean-Louis Bompoint. Shortly after filming Jean-Louis posted a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, in quicktime, as well as a few photos. For one day Reuters posted a clip of interviews with Michel and George Clooney, including an extract from the ad itself. Clooney Studio salvaged a French copy of that and posted it here. The clip also has behind the scenes footage of Michel directing. |
