The Work of Director Michel Gondry is a compilation of much of Michel Gondry's work, from his early experiments and videos for his band Oui Oui, through 2003. You can pick it up in the USA, UK, France, Germany, Canada, Japan, and Australia. The Japanese version has slightly redesigned menus and artwork.
Michel's and Chris Cunningham's DVDs were both certified gold under the RIAA specifications, having sold 50,000 copies apiece. Jonze's DVD went platinum.
Concerning the lack of commercials on Michel's DVD, Director File was told that this was because of the complicated clearance process. A commercial's rights are scattered between companies and talent. All involved must be tracked down. By contrast, a music video requires only the permission from a label and artist.

Box Set
The Directors Label box set was released Nov 16, 2004 in the USA. It features the label's first three DVD's: Spike, Michel, and Chris. It also includes these bonuses:
A double-sided poster featuring an original "exquisite corpse" illustration by all three directors on one side and an exclusive design by Chris Cunningham on the other.
A bonus DVD featuring new work from Spike and Michel:
· Rarely seen music videos directed by Jonze for Weezer ("Island in the Sun") and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Y Control").
· Spike Jonze's short film excerpt, Invisible Boards.
· Michel Gondry's original short, Ossamuch! - Kishu & Co., and video for the Willowz' "I Wonder."
